5 Ways to Save As A Family

When I first got married to my husband, we both knew we wanted to have a big family. However, becoming parents we didn’t know how much our internal struggle would be when it came to saving money. We wanted to make sure our children didn’t go without a single thing, but we still needed to have money we could fall back onto if there was an emergency.

Learning to budget and looking for the best ways to save money for my family taught me some important things when it came to saving money as a family. Check out these 5 ways you can save as a family. You can start using these money-saving hacks whenever you want, but the sooner you start the more you will see how much you are saving!

1. Use Coupons on Everything

There are plenty of ways to get the latest coupons and see the most recent deals. There is definitely no excuse either! Make it a habit to be on the lookout for deals and collecting coupons. Check out some of our couponing articles to get you started!

2. Spend as Little as Possible

Especially the grocery store! We, as parents, know we need to feed our children, but making a clear effort to spend less money at the grocery store can save you a whole lot more in your bank. Make sure you go shopping with a list and stick to it.

3. Cook More Meals at Home

Eating out and even buying prepackaged processed food can really set you back when it comes to saving without knowing it. If you decide to eat out every day for lunch, you are likely spending $10-20 dollars. It also adds up when you start taking the whole family out. It’s also a great way to start eating healthy meals!

4. Stop Spending So Much on Activities

We all want to see the latest movie or spend a fun-filled afternoon. However, some of these activities can be super fun but can require a big amount of money. Make an effort to change up your activities by doing something that is free and cheap. You likely will be surprised that many things out there are free.

5. Sell What You Aren’t Using

If your little ones have outgrown toys or clothes, get rid of it! Sell it on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. You won’t miss it if you don’t use it currently. It will help keep your home clutter-free and give you a few extra dollars to save.
