It’s summer and in our home that means time to freshen things up a bit. For my summer DIY project I was originally planning on giving our hallway a new look (see Getting My Home Improvement On) but I decided the guest bathroom needed more help especially before my husbands family arrives next week. On Friday night my husband and I headed over to Lowe’s to get everything we needed to update our bathroom over the weekend and it turned out to be one of our best DIY projects we’ve taken on.
Ever since my visit to the Olympic Paint Color Center at our local Lowe’s home improvement store this Spring, I’ve been crushing on their neutrals. The Olympic Paint color center has room brochures that are arranged to allow shopping in 3 ways: Color (through the chips); Lifestyle (through the lifestyle brochures); Project (room and project brochures). During my last trip I grabbed their lifestyle brochures on the ‘best neutrals’ and no matter how many colors I looked at I kept being drawn back to their ‘best neutrals’ guide. Their color pairings are so helpful and really offset each other perfectly. We followed one of the color combos from the guide and I’m so pleased with the results! Here’s the color combination we went with:
The guest bathroom felt dark to me. It is small and only has one window. There was a dark red curtain shutting out too much of the precious light and it didn’t help that we had a stained, holey dark red shower curtain that didn’t quite match the curtain. Gross! There were only two neutral tones and after some inspiration from the neutral guide we now have four! We chose Olympic’s Sand Fossil paint to add an extra accent to the mirror and to give it that pop we were looking for. While at Lowe’s, we picked up a beautiful shower curtain that brings in the Flagstone color from the neutral color guide. Just like in their color guide, I feel like our guest bathroom has really come together and has a new level of depth! It’s amazing what a little extra color can do!
I was really impressed with my paint purchasing experience at Lowe’s. The gentleman that helped us in the Color Center was very knowledgeable and really had our best interest in mind. He told us about incredibly affordable paint samples that Olympic offers to give you a chance to try a color before you buy a huge quantity giving you the ability to really paint with confidence. I found our paint sample we purchased really helpful! To help you paint with confidence Lowe’s also has a Paint Pledge Program where they commit to doing whatever it takes to help you find the perfect paint. For purchases between 4/3/16-8/9/16, Lowe’s will refund customers who are dissatisfied with their paint for any reason, as long as the customer returns the paint in its original container within 30 days. Your reason for return may include being unhappy with the quality or color, or something else. Who doesn’t love knowing that they are guaranteed satisfaction!
Not only does Olympic help with an incredible variety of swatches and brochures but they also offer some great online tools to help too, you can even print them out (see this to get more information). If you want to see how a paint color would look before you head to Lowe’s, you can upload a photo of your room to the Olympic® Paint Visualizer tool.
I’m excited to have our bathroom freshened up with Olympic paint in time for the visit from our family. Thanks Olympic!
