Making the most of your time as a family is so important. We are all busy people and lead hectic lives. We work, keep a house running, cook, clean, and have to find time to spend together in between all that. It can be so easy to get complacent when it comes to family time, but you need to make the most of it before you regret it. These tips will help you!
Turn off the TV and Other Distractions
You can’t expect to spend quality time together as a family if you have lots of distractions getting in the way. If you have the TV on and your email notifications are pinging you every 5 minutes, you’re not going to enjoy this time. Turn off all of the distractions for at least an hour so you can all catch up and enjoy these rare times you get together as a family.
Eat Dinner Together
Stop eating dinner in front of the TV or at different times – right now! Eat dinner together as a family and you’ll all automatically feel closer. Ban phones and other things around the table too. This is a time for you to all enjoy your food, catch up with what’s going on in each other’s lives, and enjoy. It’s the little moments like these that make all of the difference in the long run!

Plan Trips and Fun Things
Money can be tight from time to time, but you should still plan trips and fun things. Even if you have to go and do free activities, just go ahead and do it! Get out of the house and explore somewhere new. You can even just go for a walk. It all helps! If you need extra help, there are companies that can do this for you. There’s no reason you should not get out the house and have fun as a family, say NSW disability services.
Have Days in Together
If you haven’t got any budget to spend on outdoor trips or you need to stay in for whatever reason, have a day in together. Watch some films, play some games, and have some fun!
Let Them Help You
If you have a lot to do, why not let the family help you get it done? A clean house is important, but if the kids want to help you sweep up, let them. Even if they’re not doing a great job, at least you’re teaching them a good little life lesson and getting them involved. Sometimes you even have to think; the washing up will still be there tomorrow, but your kids are with you now. Make the most of it!
Enjoy the Little Things
Live in the present moment and enjoy the little things. Even if it’s simply enjoying an ice cream and a walk together, make the most of it. These moments don’t last forever!
