Fundraising for a good cause is always a good thing, but getting kids involved is even better. This way, you teach them that helping people is fun! There are so many things you can try, we couldn’t possibly list them all here. Top start you off, try the following 14 ideas:

1. Bake Sale

Why not get your kids to make all kinds of baked goods and then sell them? The profits can go to the charity of their choice, and they’ll improve their cooking skills! They could knock on doors, sell them at car boots, or at school. Whatever you decide, make sure you both make enough sweet treats to raise lots of cash.

2. Sponsored Silence

We all secretly wish that our kids would be tired from time to time, don’t we? It’s ok, you can be honest! Why not encourage your kids to do a sponsored silence for charity? You’ll get peace and quiet, and they’ll raise lots of money. They can do this for as long as they like, and they could even do it at school. They’d probably get sponsorship from teachers too! Depending on how old they are, you might need to let them off a couple of times. Kids usually have a lot to say about everything!

3. Car Wash

Washing cars can be fun for kids, so this could be an idea to raise a little money on a hot day. They could knock on neighbor’s doors, or simply set up a stall with a sign. They don’t need to do it alone either; why don’t you ask their friend’s parents if they want their kids to get involved? They’d all have so much fun doing it together! Sure, you might end up with a few soap marks…but it’s the cause that matters right?

4. Board Game Tournament

Board games are often forgot about, what with all of the technology about today. Well, here’s where you can get kids excited about them again! It’s best to avoid games such as Monopoly, as they can go on forever. Instead, go for a game like Guess Who. Pit all of the kids against each other and charge an entry fee for parents to observe and see who wins.

5. Sponsored Bike Ride

Bike’s a great for keeping us in shape, and kids these days could do with the fresh air. A sponsored bike ride will allow them to get some fresh air, up their fitness, and enjoy the great outdoors while raising money. Make sure the trail is safe for them and they’re good to go!

6. Talent Contest

Why not have a big talent contest for the children to show off what they’re good at? Make sure everyone can get involved; dancers, singers, readers, jokers, the lot! Encourage all kids to get involved and charge adults to enter. Best held in a school hall. Teachers could even show off their skills!

7. Team Up With a Big Company

Teaming up with a big company is a great way for you both to benefit. For instance, fundraising with Mcdonalds could be an effective way to get the cash you need. Not only will everybody get to have a treat for dinner, you might get a generous discount. In some cases, teachers can even be the ones serving up the food!

8. Fancy Dress Day/Party

What do kids like better than fancy dress? Not much, let me tell you! Having a fancy dress day or party could be the perfect way to raise a large amount of money for the cause close to your heart. Dress them as their favourite TV character and they’ll have lots of fun raising money.

9. Guess The Bear’s Name

Get your child to pick one of their favourite toys, and make their way around parents, teachers, and friends asking them to guess the name of it. This will make a lot of money for your chosen charity, and you could even offer a small prize if there’s a winner.

10. Sporting Tournament

Pick a sport that your kids love and arrange a tournament with other children. Parents will more than likely flock to watch this kind of thing, and the kids will enjoy a little friendly competition. You could choose football, basketball, hockey, or something else entirely

11. Non Uniform Day

Nice and simple, wearing no uniform to school has always been a treat to children. When you think of the amount of children in a school, charging a small amount to wear their own clothes could make a hell of a lot of money.

12. Readathon

What better way to get kids into reading for pleasure than with a sponsored readathon? Too many kids see reading as a chore, when it should be enjoyed as a leisure activity. There’s so much to gain from improving reading skills and falling in love with the written word.

13. Zumbathon

Zumba is a type of exercise/dance perfect for both adults and children to get stuck into. Holding a day long Zumbathon will help you to raise lots of money, as well as exposure for the charity you’re raising money for. Imagine it; hundreds of kids and adults dancing for hours on end in the name of a cause close to your heart! This kind of thing might even make it into the paper.

14. Supermarket Packing

We all know that kids are desperate to help with the supermarket packing. I think that they just enjoy squashing the bread. Either way, they could raise money by helping to pack bags in supermarkets. Some people might be a little apprehensive about letting the young ones get their hands on the bread, but it’s all for a good cause!
