Making and Keeping New Years Resolutions

What’s your new years resolutions and how to keep them

Each New Year many of us participate in the tradition of  making New Years resolutions only to find ourselves with undone lists of things we wanted to do, accomplish or change in our lives at the end of the year.

This year use my 5 tips to make and keep your New Year resolutions.

Be REAL – Sure we would all love to be fit, have a completely organized home and life, save a million dollars and travel the world but let’s be real, very few if any of us will ever accomplish all of that in one year.  Be real when making your new years resolutions.  Take the time to think about what you want to change, do or accomplish in the new year and what steps it will take to fulfill that resolution, is it possible, can you afford it both in time and money? Be real to yourself when making new years resolutions.

Time line -Create a time line with a plan to accomplish your new years resolutions.  Break the resolution down into smaller time segments to accomplish. For example if you desire to go on a vacation break it down into segments that you need to do from creating a budget to making reservations. Create your time line to work within your own schedule.

Accountability – Share your new years resolution with others who you are confident in and feel that they can help to encourage you and monitor your progress.  For instance if you want to get in shape and loose a few pounds talk to a weight trianer have them help you create a plan, be your encourager and the one who checks on your progress to keep you accountable to your resolution.

New plan – Don’t Give up if you find your self not accomplishing your new years resolutions take the time to re-evaluate why you are not accomplishing them.  Then get a new plan of action. Don’t give up instead get up and move forward with a new plan.

Rewards – Give your self-rewards as you progress to accomplishing your new years resolutions.  If your resolution is to organize your closets in your home, start by doing 2 or 3 of them then have a girls night out in celebration. Rewards help us to keep going and give us something to look forward to especially if our New Years resolutions are not all fun.

Now go grab a pad of paper and pen and begin writing out your 2020 New Years resolutions.
