When I was a little girl, my mom used to scrapbook. I loved getting to help her. I also loved, as a child, looking at the scrapbooks she made for me (I’m not narcissistic, I promise). But when my daughter was born, I found I just didn’t have the time and energy to do traditional scrapbooking. I never seemed to have the right materials on hand when I felt the urge to scrapbook come on. I thought the only option available was posting my child’s entire life on social media (where I have only limited control of who gets to look at it). Then I discovered TheVoiceLibrary.net
The Voice Library is a digital storytelling platform. You can make voice recordings anytime, anywhere (like my daughter and I talking at the end of the day about our favorite moments together). You don’t need any special hardware apart from your phone, tablet, or computer. You don’t even need to download their app (all though it does make the process simpler and it’s free, so why wouldn’t you?). The Voice Library is simple and easy to use, seriously, anyone to can use it. On top of all that, you get to decide who gets to listen to your audio scrapbook. Listeners need to be personally invited, so you can share it with the people who will appreciate it without having to share it with the whole world. You can even keep it just to yourself if you like.
So now, when those moments happen that you want to remember in twenty years, instead of just making a mental note you will soon forget, you can quickly retell it and have it captured forever! You can even narrate events as they happen then relive them over and over. Capture the adorable ways your child mispronounces words (potatatatato) so that you can still enjoy the cuteness long after they’ve learned to say them properly. And since audio recording can be done much more on the sly, you don’t have to worry about ruining a moment by pulling out a camera and drawing your child’s attention away from what they are doing. Also, if you are trying to limit your child’s amount of time in front of screens, you can still share your audio scrapbook with them without giving them more screen-time.
The Voice Library really is the perfect way to scrapbook digitally and capture every precious moment with your child!
