12 Refreshing Smoothies for the Summer

Smoothies are one of the easiest and healthiest options when it comes to breakfast or a snack. You can prepare smoothies ahead of time. If you are in a hurry a need something quick to make, you can make a smoothie and take it on the go. Smoothies are also a great kid-friendly option.

I love making smoothies during the summertime. The flavor combos are endless with the amount of fruit and other ingredients that are abundant during the summer. One thing I have always loved about smoothies is that my kids have always loved them (even without knowing they are a healthy option) and I always felt good about giving them to my kids too.

Take a look at the 12 refreshing smoothies for the summer.

Preparing and Taking on the Go

Here are a few tips for preparing ahead of time and making sure you can easily take your smoothies on the go when needed.

  • Always freeze your fruit ahead of time. Cut up your fruit and lay them out on a jelly roll plan and put them in the freezer. Once they are frozen store them into resealable freezer bags.
  • Put together the frozen fruit into one-serving resealable freezer bags. This is perfect if you are in a hurry.
  • If you make smoothies ahead of time, add quarter cup of oats to the blender. The oats will soak up the excess liquid, helping extend the flavor of the smoothie.
  • Be sure to rinse out the blender right after you use it. This is important if you are planning to wash the blender later since cleaning up dried fruit on the blender can be a hassle to clean up later.
