Most of the appliances in your home are designed with a single purpose. The washing machine washes your clothes, dishwashers clean your dishes, and the oven cooks your food. There is one more tool that is probably the most valuable appliance you can own.

Your vacuum cleaner or carpet cleaner is one of the most versatile tools you can own. Not only does your vacuum help keep your home clean, a good vacuum can really come in handy with many different things. It can help you find missing tiny items, inflating an air mattress, and so much more. If you need to fix your carpet cleaner, search no more, a carpet cleaner repair company does exist!

Get those hose attachments for your vacuum cleaner ready as you try some of these ways you never thought to do with your vacuum cleaner!

1. Find small items that are lost

Put a sock over at the end of the vacuum cleaner hose. You can secure it with an elastic band and run it behind the couch, under cushions and heavy pieces of furniture to find those lost items.

2. Inflate an air mattress

If you need to inflate your air mattress quickly, use your vacuum cleaner. Remove the bag and connect a long cleaning nozzle where the bag is attached. Stick the nozzle into the mattress hole. The air will then blow into the mattress and inflate it.

3. Make your home smell nice

Take a cotton ball and saturate it with your favorite essential oil or perfume. Put it in the vacuum cleaner bag. As you vacuum the scent will gently release and freshen up the air in your home.

4. Clean the washing machine’s lint filter

Use the vacuum’s brush attachment to clean the washing machine’s lint filter. Use the crevice tool to pull out the remaining lint from the machine’s lint cavity.

5. Clean kitchen appliances

Get that built up dust in the backside of the condenser coils on your fridge. Pull the fridge several feet out from the wall and vacuum the coils. You’ll want to vacuum the floor area as well.

6. Clean your keyboard

Flip your keyboard upside down to get those loose crumbs out. Attach your vacuum’s crevice tool and vacuum the keyboard surface. You can use rubbing alcohol and brush it the area surrounding each of the keyboard keys. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove dust and polish the keys.

7. Fix carpet indents

Place an ice cube over the indent that is left behind by heavy furniture. The ice cube will help “re-fluff” the carpet fibers. Allow the area to dry for a while then vacuum the area to help remove the indent further.

8. Keep your mattress fresh

Strip your mattress down and sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the surface. Let the baking soda sit on the mattress for a couple of hours so the odors can be absorbed. Vacuum up the baking soda.

9. Sooth your crying baby

You will want to introduce this trick when your baby is born so they can get used to the noise. The white noise from the vacuum can help soothe your baby as you walk around the house vacuuming with baby strapped on you with a strap-on carrier.

10. Freshen up upholstery, pillows, and carpets

Sprinkle a bit of baking soda over the upholstery, pillows, and carpets. Work it in with a sponge or a mop lightly. Let the baking soda sit for an hour then vacuum it up.

11. Remove those crumbs

Use the vacuum to remove crumbs from your toaster and toaster ovens. Unplug the toaster before you do this.

12. Reduce allergens

Vacuum your home’s windowsills and crevices between outdoor screens and windowpanes to reduce the allergens. Use the dust brush attachment to vacuum the window and door screens.
