It always seems there is something in a place or space it should not be within our homes. Certain items get lost when we try looking for them, and then we find them in another place. This is certainly true for my kids’ own toys. I find my children’s toys in one room instead of the playroom, and you probably find your own children’s toys somewhere else.

I’ve learned to combat this messy situation by making a place where my children’s things can be stored. Everything in our home has a place, and it is definitely no different with my children’s toys. So it’s time to step stepping on those building blocks and finding random toys throughout the home.

Let’s make a game plan on keeping toys organized in the home.

1. Accessible

Whether it is in the playroom, living room, or your child’s bedroom, you want to make sure the toys are easily accessible. Find a place within your household where your child can easily reach for their items when they want to play with them.

2. Use a flexible shelving system

The shelves can adapt to what you are wanting to store since toys begin to change over the years as your child grows. The things they will play with will change. So make sure your storage area for their toys can accommodate for that.

3. Use clear plastic storage drawers or bins

These storage bins are great because they can stack, but also your child can easily see what is inside of them when looking for what they want to play with.

4. Steer clear of toy boxes

Toy boxes can create more disaster than organization. Things are simply thrown in and you might never find what you are looking for or quickly lose pieces of a toy set.

5. Label plastic drawers

Make sure you label the plastic drawers with what toy items are in them. This is ideal for any organization and storage system within a household.
