Although we are inclined to decorate entire home in the same manner, we will always pay more attention to our living room. This makes sense given that living room is the place where we will bring our guests to. On top of that, it is the area of the house where homeowners spend majority of their free time.
Because of these reasons, living room will always be the focal point of our decorative activity. We will plan it in advance, slowly searching for items that fit the general theme. However, even with our best attempts there will be hits and misses.
You should always be unique when planning your living room. With this guide you will be able to do precisely that.
- Make it neat
According to modern minimalistic design one of the best things you can do with your living room is to make it clean and neat. What do I mean by this? Make sure to remove all those excessive items that otherwise serve no purpose. The only few things that should be present are sectional, table or two as well as several minor items which I will be disusing later on in the text. This is the modern way to go and I hope you do not miss this train!
- Mirrors are the new paintings
With that said, you need to focus on items that are either small, inconspicuous or that can fit with almost anything. Having that in mind, mirrors come perfectly in play. You can of course try different forms such as the collection offered by HollywoodMirrors.co.uk or perhaps professional makeup mirrors. But, I would always recommend going for something purely decorative and simple. Here, mirror doesn’t serve its normal purpose and you don’t even have to use it to look at yourself. Instead, it is more of a substitution to paintings and other stuff that you would otherwise have on walls.
- Cover the floor
Most homes have wooden floor or something else that is great for isolation. This is great for your feet and will definitely help you avoid cold during the winter. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sit well with this design. If you wish to revamp your home just the right way, make sure to cover it. A lot of homeowners make a mistake by purchasing a smaller carpet. This way, only part of your floor will be covered while the rest will be naked allowing you to see the floor. It doesn’t sit well with minimalistic theme as you should focus only on one color or design. Make sure to cover entire floor in one color and scheme. In fact, if the rest of your apartment/home is plain and you have let’s say white walls, it will be really easy to incorporate red or blue carpet.
- Sectionals are the thing of the past
Well, this is only partially true. You will still need something akin to sectional where your guest can sit. But this doesn’t necessarily have to look like the traditional sectional we know and love. Good alternative is having a hole in the middle of the room and simply having concrete seats covered with pillows. You can go for something even more posh such as circular wooden benches. No matter what you decide to do, pay attention to comfort. In the end, it is good to be trendy but not if your back is going to hurt.
With these simply tips you are ready to recreate your living room. Plan ahead, do the necessary test and see how it all fits. I am sure you will find your way!
