Parenting a toddler is tough enough as it is, but it is made even more challenging if you are trying to juggle raising your child while going to school for a degree like a masters in social work or an MSW online. However, this task certainly is not impossible, and you can have the best of both worlds by being a fantastic parent and getting your degree. Keep reading for some helpful tips on how you can study when parenting a toddler so you can incorporate these strategies into your daily life and succeed.

Study While Your Toddler Is Napping

You know when your toddler regularly takes a nap each day, so why not use that time as an opportunity to get some studying done or at least complete some assignments? Even if your child naps for just an hour, it will be worth it to put your study time in, as every little bit counts. Then you can study more when your toddler takes another nap, or you can wait until you put your child to bed for the night to get a few extra hours of study in until you head off to bed as well.

Ask for Support

Because you are working so hard, you should never be ashamed to ask for help and support from your spouse and your relatives or friends. Ask them if they would be willing to babysit your toddler for a few hours during the day or over the weekend so that you can squeeze in some extra study time. You may be surprised by how much people are willing to help you reach your goals, so do not hesitate to ask them for help when you need it.

Study Early in the Morning

If you are a morning person, it may be too difficult to stay up late after everyone else has gone to bed. In that case, you can try getting up earlier than everyone else in your house, including your toddler, so that you can get some much-needed study time in before your day gets started. Then you can follow the tips above and use your support system, as well as your toddler’s nap times, to squeeze in even more time for your school work.

Head to the Library

For those times when you absolutely need to be alone in a quiet place to study, hire a babysitter and head to the library for a couple of hours. That should give you the space and solitude that you need to really focus on your work and study what you need to know for every important exam. Then, when you are done, you can return home and know that your toddler was with a great babysitter, safe and sound, while you were away.

As you can see, it will be challenging to create a schedule for studying when you have a toddler to take care of, but stay strong and keep focused. It will all be worth it in the end when you have your degree.
