Awesome Ideas For Creating Cozy Corners In Your Home

We all need those little moments to retreat when we’ve had a bad day. You might want to escape with a good book. Or maybe you prefer to curl up and catch up with your social media notifications. It’s not always a good idea to hide under the bedcovers until you feel better. But it can be nice just to gather your thoughts in a quiet and cozy corner.

Creating a little retreat in your home doesn’t need to be difficult. And it doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice much space in any room either. It gives you the opportunity to be creative. You might even choose to repurpose some space you have in your home or garden. Creating a cozy corner just for you can be a fun project to take on.

First you need to find that space in your house where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of the household. The attic can be quite good if it’s boarded out and there’s easy access. Even the basement can be a nice place to retreat if it’s warm and dry. If you have a walk-in closet space that is largely empty, why not reposition some rails to create a micro den for yourself? So long as it’s cozy and quiet, it can be ideal.

Next you need to make it comfortable. If you’re heading in there to catch up on a chapter of your book, then you need a good seat. If you’re looking to cocoon yourself, why not try an egg hanging chair or bean bag? They wrap around you and are ideal for that cozy getaway. Next, decide if you would like a comfort blanket or quilt. Sometimes it’s nice just to wrap up and feel squishy and warm.

Decorating your cozy corner can also help elevate your mood. If you use your space to calm down after the kids or the boss has stressed you out, then choose colors like pastel blues and greens. If you prefer something to help recharge your creativity, then look for electric blues and purples. Sometimes something neutral can be just the thing you need when you don’t want any distractions. You might even pop an inspirational or motivational poster on the wall.

The kind of accessories you might want in your cozy corner could include a soft reading lamp, and a small side table. It’s ideal for popping your cup of hot cocoa on. Next time you upgrade your living room, see what things you can retask from there for your cozy corner. A few cushions or a soft rug for your bare feet could be just the thing. What about that cute ornament you fell in love with on that wonderful day out?

We all need a time out once in awhile. After all, it’s not easy being Mom! Add the stresses of a job to the mix, and we’re ready to explode. Having a quiet, cozy corner to retreat to for a few minutes can help you gather your thoughts and get back on track. Perhaps it can inspire you to be creative, or help re-energize you ready for getting the dinner on. Love your ‘me’ time.
