Until we arrived in Mexico we had never heard of Tostolocos- where you take a bag of Tosititos slice it open from the side and add in jicama; pickled pigskins, Tamarind candy, sweet coated peanuts, chopped cucumbers, tajín chile powder and squeeze fresh key limes and chamoy on top of this crazy mixture. T be honest not one of us has stepped out and tried this much loved treat by the locals in Mexico. But what it d is gave me an idea wondering how to take the same idea and create our own version of Tacolocos.
Could we take a bag or Doritos, corn chips or other tortilla type chips, slice it open on the side and add in all the toppings we usually enjoy in a taco? In my search to bring this idea to a reality I discovered Walking Tacos by Come Together Kids.
Then I searched a little more and discovered it is already a semi popular idea to create Walking Tacos and foudn lots of topping ideas..
Your kids will love the fun of making their own walking taco, create a buffet of toppings that might include:
- Ground Beef with Taco seasoning
- Refried Beans
- Black Beans
- Mexican rice
- Lettuce
- Salsa and/or taco sauce
- Sour cream
- Guacamole
- Cheese
- Diced tomato
- Chopped onion
- Black olives
- Jalapenos
This would be a fun idea for a kids party, family gathering, outdoor entertaining , for dinner or lunch.
