5 Fantastic City Break Ideas for Families

Who doesn’t wish they could go on a vacation all the time? Unfortunately, not all of us have the time to jet off for a couple of weeks. Nor the money! Instead, we take the odd weekends off to relax with our loved ones. There is a way you can experience the thrill of a vacation, without having lots of spare time or cash. City breaks! You can jet off to another state for the weekend. Or take a week out to explore a European city. Here are the five best city break ideas for families.

  1. New York

The Big Apple is the perfect destination for a city break. Everything you could possibly want is on your doorstep. There are hundreds of shops, restaurants, theaters, museums and art galleries. Not to mention lots of places for your children to explore. Although New York City can be pricey, you are able to find cheaper accommodation options out there. Stick to the outskirts of the city and travel in by Metro. It takes barely any time and will save you a fortune.

  1. Athens

Looking for a budget-friendly European city break? Athens, Greece, is the place to visit. Although there is some unrest over there at the moment, this hasn’t slowed the tourism trade down. You may find that prices are actually cheaper, to try and lure tourists back. You can expect beautiful weather and delicious food. Along with some rather incredible places to visit. Imagine your children telling their friends that they visited the Acropolis?!

  1. Orlando

Of course, this city was going to make it onto the list! Where could be more family-friendly than Orlando? Let’s see… There’s Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld. Need we go on? There’s also plenty of ways to keep yourselves busy while the children meet their favourite cartoon characters. If you want to do Orlando on a budget, then try to visit during the end of September or beginning of October. The weather will still be nice, but the crowds will have died down a bit. You’ll also find that tickets are far cheaper during the off-peak season.

  1. London

Another European destination that tops our city bucket list. While flights can be expensive, you’ll find some pretty affordable accommodation options. Visit HouseTrip to see what the alternatives are to hotels. You can stay in an apartment for a lot less than you would a central B&B. Don’t forget to take your children to all of the famous tourist hotspots. Big Ben, The London Eye, and the Dungeons are a must-visit. Did we mention that all of the museums and galleries in London are free? Saving you even more money on your city break.
