As a new parent, nothing is more important than your baby or toddler’s health and development. The ages between 0 to 2 years old are the most critical time in your child’s development, but it’s also when you know the least. Early detection of potential developmental issues is critical. Studies have shown that early treatment of autism, ADHD, hearing conditions (e.g. CAPD), and other developmental disorders can lead to significantly better outcomes. Language, social skills, and even IQ can be enhanced with the right activities. Milestones is the first app that assesses a child’s developmental health and equips parents with actionable knowledge to address their child’s developmental needs.
Milestones was created as a fun, interactive way for families and caregivers to gain knowledge and skills to track and quantify their child’s development. It creates a personalized program that is tailored to each child. Parents are motivated to work with their child on these challenges and then share their achievements and their child’s successes with other caregivers. Participating in the challenges becomes an engaging game for parents as they work with their child towards accomplishing goals and earning virtual badges.
The Milestones app starts with an assessment. Parents can get to know how their child is doing from a social, fine motor, gross motor, language, self-help (independence) perspective. The app provides a developmental age, percentiles (optional), and interpretation of each metric of development. Assessments are based on proven medical practice – the CDI/IDI assessments are recommended by www.northraleighpediatrics.com/ ,the gold standard in pediatric medicine. Parents will be informed about how their child is progressing and whether or not they need to discuss possible developmental delays with their child’s pediatrician.
Unlike apps that provide general or age based information, Milestones provides information and activities specific to accelerating a child’s developmental progress. Each challenge or information card is a short, fun, and informative way for parents to learn and interact with their newborn. Through information cards, they’ll learn useful tips about breastfeeding, putting their baby to sleep, tummy time and other important information. Challenge cards are presented to help parents conduct activities with their baby to strengthen their development according to their present progress.
Parenting is rarely an individual activity. Grandparents, spouses, and nannies all take part in bringing up a newborn. The collaborative parenting feature allows multiple caregivers to complete challenges, learn, and share the achievements of their new child. The shared journal allows each caregiver to see the child’s progress, comment, and share in the joy of parenting.
As parents complete activities and their child achieves milestones, parents and caregivers can view their little one’s progress in a simple dashboard. Each category is displayed with a developmental age, percentile (optional), and description so parents can quickly tell if their attention is needed in any area.
