David Wiesner’s Spot App Review and WIN a Spot Prize Package

If you have an imaginative child or one that you need to spark some imagination here is the perfect app for you.

David Wiesner is a three-time Caldecott medalist who has created the most amazing picture books and now is sharing his talent with the digital world. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt has released this new app called Spot. 

Spot is a visual adventure where you travel through spaces that transition into one another via the Pinch-and-Zoom feature of your iPad. With a pinch and a zoom, you move through dazzling scenes, delving into worlds within worlds rendered in gorgeous original artwork by David Wiesner.

There are five colorful worlds to explore in Spot. To transport from world to world you click on hotspots that will take you to the next world which include traveling under a chair where there are the cutest dust bunnies, a fun cat parade, go on an underwater adventure, travel into space and much more.

This is a wordless app that allows the child or you as the parent to create a story. As a parent, this is a wonderful way to start a variety of discussion topics, critical thinking and observation with your child. So many great education opportunities by watching this fun app and it all starts with a Spot on a ladybug.

David Wiesner’s Spot is available from the App Store at $3.99 and don’t forget to download Spot’s accompanying multi-touch companion e-book, David Wiesner’s Spot: A Parent and Educator Guide that enhances this imaginative experience. The guide includes creative storytelling prompts for parents and unique writing and classroom activities for teachers.
