If your best friend is an expectant mom, it’s your responsibility to hold a baby shower she will never forget! The birth of a baby is one of life’s biggest events, so it’s only right that theshower leading up to the occasion should be just as amazing. But where do you start? You need to think about when and where it will take place, who will be invited, what activities you will arrange and of course, one of the main things – the gifts from Glitter Gift Baskets!

Below are some common questions and answers to help you plan the ultimate baby shower:

When should the baby shower happen?

Most baby showers are held four to eight weeks before the baby’s due date. You will also need to decide if you going to inform the mom-to-be of her shower, or if you are keeping it a surprise. If you’re going to send out invitations, make sure you do so in plenty of time, and make sure all the attendees hide them from the mom-to-be in the lead up!

Where can it take place?

Location is important as it will determine how many people you can invite. You can host a baby shower almost anywhere you like; at home, at a restaurant, in a tea room or at the beach.

Does it need to have a theme?

Most baby showers have some sort of theme, whether it’s pink or blue, or even something like a garden party. For inspiration, Buzz Feed shares 25 of the best baby shower themes ever.

What should we do at the baby shower?

Most baby showers will include some kind of food and drink. You could choose to theme the menu i.e. Mexican with tacos, salsa and non alcoholic margaritas, or keep it simple with mini fried chicken, chips, potato salad and cupcakes. Add an extra special touch by making your own  mocktails.
For a shower with a nursery-rhyme theme, you could even name the drink after a nursery rhyme e.g. the Itsy-Tipsy Spider! Baby showers aren’t complete without fun games and activities so make sure you include a variety that everyone will want to get involved in. Who should be invited?

If you’re throwing a baby shower as a surprise, you’ll have to craft a guest list in secret. If you don’t have everyone’s details you may want to get in touch with her parents or her partner for some help.

Where do the gifts come in?

The whole point of a baby shower is to shower the new mom with gifts! As a host, you can choose to provide a gift list that everyone can contribute to. Include plenty of practical items that a new mom will need but be sure to include lots of things to make her feel good too – i.e. a hamper full of pampering products or a gift voucher for a massage and beauty session.
