Make Renewing Your Vows Memorable: Tips and Tricks

Renewing your wedding vows is a great way to strengthen an already amazing partnership. It’s also a wonderful excuse for a party! If you want everybody to look back on this party with fond memories, try these tips and tricks:

Have Fun With Your Photographs

Instead of taking formal photos like you would at a regular ceremony, make things more interesting. Use props, stand in front of interesting backdrops, and be silly. You’ll get some amazing pictures to remember the day, and they’ll be different from your original wedding photographs.

Think of a Theme

A themed party could be just the thing you need to make yours stand out. Why not base it around your favourite book, band, or film? If you love The Beatles, you could name all of your tables after a Beatles song. If your favourite film is Alice in Wonderland, decorate in a way that reflects that. Your party will be perfectly personalised and your guests won’t forget it!

Design the Playlist Yourself

Instead of leaving the DJ to his own devices, design the playlist yourself. You don’t need to handpick every single song. Simply write a list of the genres, styles, and artists you definitely want, and include anything you don’t want. You could even write a short list of specific songs for other couples in the room; how about your mom and dad’s wedding song for them to dance to?

Write Funny Vows

You want this day to be memorable, so make sure the actual vows are memorable too. You don’t need to get all soppy – that’s more suited to doing it the first time round. Why not write funny vows? Tell your other half that you promise to stop moving the remote control, or something else they always get on at you for. Making the guests laugh is a surefire way to be remembered!

Send Unique Invitations

Send out unique invitations to set the scene for your party. Paper Themes have lots of designs you can take inspiration from.

Give Original Favours

Instead of giving out sugared almonds as a throwback to your original wedding (who likes them anyway?), give a favour actually worth giving! Why not give out some flower seeds that your guests can plant to remember the day you renewed your vows whenever they’re doing the gardening?

Ask Guests to Sign Pottery Instead of a Book

You probably already got guests to sign a book the first time around. Instead, ask your guests to sign a piece of pottery. You can then display this pottery in your home and you’ll be reminded of this special day forever! It’ll also make a great conversation starter in your home.

Spice Up Your ‘First’ Dance

Everybody loves a tearful and emotional first dance, but do you know what they love even more? An expertly choreographed dance routine worthy of a popular talent show! Why not have fun with your second ‘first’ dance and wow your guests? It’ll be so much fun and you might even end up on Youtube!
Well, are you ready to have the most talked about party of the year? I hope so! If you have any tips of your own you’d like to share, go right ahead. See you next time!
