Are you wondering how you can keep your kids entertained over the next half term break or rainy weekend? Are you worried about how you will deal with their boredom? Don’t worry, that is where we come.

Bored children can be a nightmare to look after, but with our guide to fun and creative activities for kids, there is no need to worry about how you will keep them entertained.

For four creative activities kids will love, have a read of this.

  1. Homemade Pizza Making

Making homemade pizzas is fun, easy to do and a great way to keep the kids entertained. Plus, it gives you the chance to teach them about the importance of good nutrition and a balanced diet.

Before getting started, you need to decide whether you want to make the bases yourself or whether ready made ones would be a better choice. Making your own bases is the healthier option, however buying pre-made bases will make your pizza making a lot easier.

Peel, chop and slice lots of different toppings and place them on your table or kitchen counter in different bowls. Once you have prepared your pizza bases, give the little ones free rein to build their pizza however they like.

Once the pizzas are finished, all you have to do is pop them in the oven and wait for them to cook.

  1. Collage Making

Collage making is easy to do and can be a lot of fun. All you need to make collages are some sheets of card, some PVA glue and some bits and bobs, such as buttons, material, pipe cleaners, glitter, sequins, etc.

Cover the table or surface your children will be working on with a protective cover and place all the bits and pieces they will need on top of it.

Sit down with the children and help them decide what type of collage they would like to make. If they are stuck for ideas, give them a magazine to flick through for inspiration.

  1. Cake or Cooking Baking

Baking cakes or cookies is a great way to keep the kids occupied whilst they are at home. Have a look at what you have in the cupboards and give the children some ideas of things they could bake. Such as cupcakes, chocolate brownies or cookies, for example.

Once everyone has agreed on what to make, start looking for the perfect child-friendly recipe. For chocolate-based cakes and cookie recipes, have a look on the chocolate guru website. Or, have a look in a cookbook.

Once you have a recipe, give each child a job. Take it in turns stirring the mixture and adding ingredients in to it. Make sure that you deal with any potentially dangerous parts, such as placing the cakes or cookies in the oven.

  1. Build a Lego City

If your kids love Lego, get out all of their lego and spend the morning helping them to build their own Lego city.

Ask them what they want to include in their city – a school, bank, petrol station, and hospital are all good places to start.

Building a city out of Lego will not only keep them entertained, it is also a great way to help them to use their imaginations. Instead of spending the day playing computer games.
