Christmas is the season of giving and a great time for teaching our children about giving not just through our words but through modeling generosity. One great way to model generosity is by donating the spare change around the home. A recent Coinstar holiday survey revealed that Americans thought they had $21 in change, while Coinstar kiosk data showed that the average pour for the no fee eCertificate option was $58 – nearly triple what people thought they had! That many coins could do a lot of good for someone in need. Every amount helps.
Did you know you can donate to charity at Coinstar? It’s called the Coins that Count™ program. Why not cash in your change with your kids at a Coinstar kiosk near you to help a cause your family believes in. At the kiosk, choose “Donate to charity,” pick the charity you want, and pour in your coins. Your donation is 100% tax deductible.
Here’s a list of charities to which Coinstar currently accepts donations:
- American Red Cross
- Autism Speaks
- Change Making Change
- Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
- Earth’s Birthday Project
- Feeding America
- Jumpstart
- Ronald McDonald House Charities
- The Humane Society of the United States
- The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
- UNICEF
- World Wildlife Fund
Each Coinstar kiosk has different charities you can donate to. To find a kiosk with a specific charity, click here, then choose the charity on the left-hand sidebar, click the “Find kiosks” button and enter your zip code.
Are you raising money for a nonprofit that’s not on Coinstar’s kiosks? If you’re raising at least $1,500 for a school, church, or other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, you may qualify for a charity fee rebate if you process the coins at Coinstar.
