It all started with an email asking if our family would like to check out the Embassy Suites for two nights. It didn’t take but 10 seconds for my reply of “YES”. So, the planning began as to where we wanted to go. I instantly thought of planning a surprise trip for our two youngest boys that would include Disneyland. After a few text messages to my girlfriend and discovering her family had also planned a trip to Disney it was settled in my mind. Disneyland here we come.
The surprise was killing my kids, begging, pleading, even trying reverse psychology on me as they call it, asking every question they could to see if I would break down and reveal the secret to our surprise trip. This mom stayed strong, though I had my almost break down moments. I held back and kept the secret. We woke up early, loaded the van filled with our suitcases and snacks and set out for a 4 hour drive across the US border to Disneyland with two boys still begging for a hint of where we were going.
First stop in the US was my boys favorite doughnut store “Yum Yum Doughnuts”, back onto the freeway we went traveling north to our destination. The boys stay entertained watching movies and the drive seemed to go quickly. Finally there it was , we could see the Embassy Suites Anaheim – South, in the distance and headed there piling out of the van and carrying our luggage through the front doors. WOW! we were already impressed with the decor’ of the lobby .
We arrived prior to check in so they quickly took our luggage to store it so we could head out to our surprise destination. My boys were still looking for clues when finally they set eyes on the onsite Disneyland Help desk right in the lobby of the hotel. The excitement began as they also discovered we would be meeting two of their childhood friends at the park. Off to Disney it was for the remainder of the day.
After rides, walking and walking and filling up on Disney treats it was time to head back to the Embassy Suites and check in to our room. Back through the front doors for a quick check in and up to the 11th floor we entered our two room suite. My boys were already impressed as the door flung open they could see what felt like a mansion of a hotel room. The amenities were amazing a living room setting, dinning table, mini fridge, sink and microwave then onto the over-sized bedroom filled with two queen beds, yes the eyes were still huge as they realized this was home for the next two nights. Did I mention two TV’s one for each of them to watch what they each wanted no drawing straws for who gets to choose the next show.
This mom was exhausted after a day of driving , walking and riding a zillion rides so off to bed we all went to rest for the adventures that awaited us in the morning. We woke up ready
to hit the pavement but first needed to re-fuel with breakfast, down the elevator we went to check out the so called complimentary breakfast buffet, and a buffet it was – made to order omelets, fresh fruit, yogurt, potatoes, pancakes, assorted breakfast meats, and delicious pastries and we won’t forget the self serve beverage bar. My kids were delighted at the ability to serve them selves and eat the things they loved most and yes it filled us up , ready for another day at the Disney parks.
After a full day of fun we returned early to our hotel to make dinner plans. When we arrived back we noticed that there would be a FREE evening reception with beverages . My youngest son was determined we should stop in and get a free soda pop during the reception, he wasn’t kidding as soon as the clock struck the appropriate time he was racing to get his shoes back on to head down to the reception for a free soda pop, I followed behind him as did his brother. Once we arrived we realized it was more then free soda there was an assortment of snacks and lite appetizers you could purchase at a ridiculous low price in comparison to the Disney park food prices – Pizza slices for $3.00. My kids thought this would make a perfect dinner and at this price so did the mom. A $3 slice of pizza, free soda and snacks what more could a kid ask for and what could make a mom happier – kids fed and money saved.
As you can tell we were enjoying our time at the Embassy Suites and my children were already thinking they could get used to staying in this mansion of a hotel. It was a perfect family friendly place to stay from our over-sized suite, breakfast buffet to the free evening reception- my kids were in hotel heaven. Did I mention the decor was themed both for adults and kids to enjoy? a beautiful outdoor setting ( but really indoors) with a roaring lion sitting on top of a large rock kept the kids entertained. Yes, we enjoyed our time at the Embassy Suites and give it our thumbs up of approval for a return place to stay not only while visiting the Disney Parks but as we travel to
other destinations.
When they asked us to try it out they sent us the below statement – in which we found it all to be true.
