How are you making life easy for your kids? How are you making it difficult? How are you growing their characters? What challenges are they facing?
For our family the last 12 months have been life changing for our two youngest boys – they went from being the typical American kids living in an over sized home, playing on sports teams, attending our neighborhood school, daily hanging out with childhood friends, living the fun and EASY life to moving to Mexico. Now living in a travel trailer for the last 8 months, a one room school with just the two of them, no more after school activities, a new language spoken all around them, foods they don’t care to eat, only a handful of kids to play with. All of which has brought challenges, tears and lots of great conversations. As a family we made the decision to take our kids out of their comfort of American life to serve in Mexico, to learn what life is like for others, to discover how at their age they can make a difference.
No , you don’t need to pack up your kids and move them across an international border , but you can challenge your self as the Mom to find ways to get your kids out of their comfort zones, to look beyond themselves and allow them opportunities that are not always easy.
