A book review by Amy Hannold, 247Moms.com
.
The author states in his introduction that this book, “The Secrets of Happy Families”, is the book he wrote that as a spouse, parent, child, uncle, sibling and adult child, he would want to read most. After reading this book myself, I’d have to say that he fulfilled that goal. This book is an inspiring collection of answers, for everyone – really, as it speaks to the joys and challenges humans in relationships with each other face throughout our lifetimes.
.
“The Secrets of Happy Families” is based on the author’s research and interviews with experts and everyday families, followed by the testing of those techniques with his own family. This book is the right balance between conversation and information. At the conclusion of the book, there is a “Happy Families Toolkit”, which guides you through implementing these ideas with your family.
.
I really like the spectrum of information covered in this book. The obstacles of chaos, busy schedules, communication failures, relatives, etc. that keep us from creating a happy home and enjoying family life are often intertwined. Readers can improve their relationships with their kids, parents, spouses and siblings – just by reading this book. Family issues of disorganization, questions about children’s allowances, negotiating and communicating effectively – all of these things in part are related to one another. You’ll find solutions, and will look forward to creating a family mission statement, cherished memories, fun togetherness, and more.
.
