I recently thought about the only other guy I seriously thought I would marry BF (Before Finkster).
We dated in college and had an intense passion and toxicity. I ignored my friends many warnings because I allowed my infatuation to put blinders over my eyes. I saw what I wanted to see and that was that. When we broke up, I knew it was the right thing but I was heartbroken. I didn’t enter into that relationship, or any relationship for that matter, to get heartbroken.
I sang these lyrics recently, “break my heart for what break yours” and had a serious moment.
Is my heart really broken for what breaks Christ’s heart? Or, am I too blinded with my infatuation, this time not with a guy, but rather with my own comfort level?
In the infamous words of Sheldon, BAZINGA.
Worship songs know how to break it down to the least common denominator. Recently God’s been messing with me in the best way possible. He’s opened my blinded eyes to be heartbroken about something very specific. Something that breaks His heart. I have to tell ya, I am heartbroken about this specific something. I’ll probably write more about it later but what’s most important is that when God breaks your heart about something or someone it changes you.
When I entered into a relationship with Jesus, I never, ever thought I’d be heartbroken. When I broke up with that BF guy I thought I was going to marry, I was heartbroken because I envisioned my life differently.
When God recently broke my heart on that specific something that I (now) know breaks His heart, I felt scared because I envisioned my life differently. And to be honest with you, most days I’d rather hop behind my white picket fence and reside in the luxurious and isolated comfort of familiar not heartbroken and uncomfortable.
Today I want to encourage you to keep calm and get heartbroken. Ask God to break your heart for what breaks His. Then hang on because God will, and it will change you and your comfort level. And, this is all really, really good and important too.
I make a sign for you because I love you. Keep calm and get heartbroken.

You know breaking up with that guy was a blessing. Seriously, being heartbroken was a blessing. On a much grander-more-amazing-level, having God break my heart for what breaks His is a zillion times bigger blessing. Okay, not a initially but eventually. Promise.
What’s something that breaks God’s heart?
