I received a copy of this book to review a few months ago but I procrastinated from it — because I knew it was going to challenge me in ways God wanted me to improve. When I finally applied myself to reading it, I found a new path and renewed strength to pursue my passions. This book is a wonderful toolbox and guide.
In the opening chapters, I found a plan of action, resources, and inspiration which started me on a whole new path. All of the wishing, “doing it myself” (my way) – and putting a whole lot of “stuff” between me and God’s plan came to an end. I had been busy, but accomplishing nothing. I needed to take a deep breath of applicable scripture, conduct an inventory of my personality type and spiritual gifts, and then begin again – with faith. Prayer time, which included listening for His voice, became a priority. My renewed faith was rewarded by more peaceful, purposeful effort, culminating in a more productive me.
As a mom, it’s been a long time since someone has asked me “What are you good at?” or “What are you passionate about?” Once I had written these down (and I had to because Alyssa left room at the end of the chapter for those answers), I was able to say “no” to those things that kept me busy, but left me empty.
I highly recommend this book. When you’re ready to commit and persist – God is waiting for you. He will lead you on a journey that blesses you and those He has called you to serve. Alyssa Avant as your guide, walks with you through the steps and over the obstacles balancing motherhood with working your passion require. She is an example of what can be accomplished when we do purposefully leap, in prayer and with faith. It can be done and she shows us the way.
