My 7 year old and I just checked out this new interactive app called Mibblio. It’s a new musical storybook app for iPad. Kids can read, sing, learn and play music all at the same time!
Once inside there is a world of Mibblet’s – illustrated story-songs that invite children to read, sing and jam while understanding the layers of developing music. Targeted to children ages 3-8, kids can listen to and build upon a song while simultaneously having fun and improving reading skills.
Some of our choices included a mix of classic songs such as “On Top of Spaghetti” and “The Wheels on the Bus” alongside new, instant classics like “Monkey Jamboree,” are written, illustrated, sung and performed by accomplished artists such as Grammy-nominated mandolinist, Andy Statman and Grammy-winning drummer Marty Beller.
My son chose The Mashed Potato Monster Gang (image on the right). After downloading the mibblet (first mibblet is FREE!) we enjoyed listening to this fun and creative musical story. What a great way to get out of our normal book routine and get my son more excited about reading. While listening you get a chance to play different musical instruments. Music is not a big part of my sons life so you can imagine the excitement when he saw all the instrument choices.
My son loved it and was thrilled to learn you can use the mibblet as a story book (without music) too. I can definitely see how this will improve his reading skills.
I’m really impressed with Mibblio and we are definitely excited to get more mibblets. Your first mibblet is FREE and after that they are available on iTunes for $1.99/each.
