Summer Grillance Party With Beef

We all have the things we love about Summer from snow cones, beach time, late summer nights to a slower paced life and for me that means cooking meals on a grill.  Yes, I look forward to warm weather and my grill doing the cooking for our family and party guests.

We just ended our  Summer with two  BBQ parties  or better known as “Summer Grillance” parties –  the first one was with our five kids plus us which make  seven – yes, our family makes a party with seven and it is always a party when we grill and have lots of favorite family dishes.  Having three college kids now means celebrating in style when we get those rare chances to all be together. So, as we ended the Summer together we celebrated by grilling our favorite steak- Teriyaki style along with baked potatoes, Dad’s famous broccoli dish, rosemary bread, salad and ice cream sundaes for dessert.

Teriyaki-Marinated Beef Steak

  1.  Tri -Tip Steak  which happens to be my families favorite.
  1. 3/4 cup prepared teriyaki marinade and sauce
    – my kids prefer Yoshidas

  1. Place beef steak and marinade in food-safe plastic bag; turn steak to coat. Close bag securely and marinate in refrigerator 6 hours or as lo as overnight, turning occasionally.
  2. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade. Place steak on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, 18 to 20 minutes (over medium heat on preheated gas grill, covered, timings remain the same) for medium rare doneness, turning occasionally. (Do not overcook.) Carve steak into thin slices.

Then we held a big Back To School BBQ celebrating the end of summer and the beginning of a new school year with what my kids affectionately call their cabin friends – the families we hang out with while at our cabin enjoying time together playing , laughing and of course eating.  Once again serving grilled beef only this time Hamburgers with all the fixins from cheese to onions for all 25 of us.  With a crowd that size you can’t go wrong grilling juicy beef hamburgers making it simple on the grill master.  To continue our simple “Summer Grillance” party  I served individual bags of chips to give a variety of choices plus the left over bags can now be used in school lunches, I sliced up watermelon and baked several batches of brownies, each family brought a side dish which was the perfect addition to our Beefy Hamburgers. What a celebration it was – just sad to see Summer come to an end.
