I Cup

By Steph Fink

There are few things that I am just certain of:

1.  God is awesome.

2.  One more coat of mascara does make you more fabulous.

3.  Dust busting is deep cleaning.

4.  My family and I’d be very classy, if we weren’t so trashy.

I’ll explain…

Last year my son, Jake, arrived off the bus bursting at the seams with his new joke.  “Mom, Mom…spell ‘I cup’.”

“Okay, I-C-U-P.”

Immediately, two of the three Finks burst into roaring laughter.  The third, Cal, didn’t get the joke, “That’s not funny, Jake.  I don’t get it.”

Infuriated and determined that his new joke is funny, Jake made his own version of an excel spreadsheet. Let’s just say that the nut didn’t fall far from the excel-spreadsheet-making-tree on that one!

It was in the drawing that the above fourth point was concluded, as true.  We’d be very classy, if we weren’t so trashy.

I can assure you that the joke’s humor value increased tenfold as Jake explained, at least a dozen times, to Cal why it was funny.  Jake’s spreadsheet eventually worked.  Cal now thinks the joke is funny.

Proverbs 17:22 says that a cheerful heart (laughter) is good medicine.  I hope our non-classy-ness/trashy-ness gave you a good dose today!

Happy April Fool’s Day! What’s one of your best jokes?
