DIY Easter Decorations from My Home to Yours

By Leslie Pleasants

I love to decorate for every holiday.  I couldn’t wait for St. Patrick’s Day to get over with so I could put up my Easter decorations.  Every year I add to my collection by buying left overs at clearance prices or handmade stuff that I created.  I am such a frugal person that decorations shouldn’t be expensive.  They should hardly cost you anything if you either buy ahead (a year ahead) or make them yourself.  Also the Dollar Tree carries a lot of great Easter decorations that you can use or get creative with.

So I wanted to share with you some of my more simple decorations that you can do that hardly takes any time at all and is very inexpensive.

EASTER EGG GARLAND

  Materials:

– Plastic Eggs that have holes in the ends

– Fishing line

Great to get the kids involved or have them do.  Just make a few knots in one end so that it will be large enough to have the eggs not go through it. and string the eggs.  Most eggs seem to have these holes on the ends… not sure why but are great for crafts!!  You can hang this from your mantle, stairs, in a tree, pretty much anywhere since its also water proof too!  🙂

** Above the mantle is some cute little Easter houses that I found at the Dollar Tree already pre-painted!!

JELLY BEAN CANDLE HOLDER

Materials:

– Jelly Beans

– Candle Holder

– Tealights

Adding jelly beans to the bottom of any candle holder adds that extra little festivity to the house!  Surprisingly if I put a candle on top of the jelly beans my kids won’t eat them.  🙂

PEEP FLOWER VASE

Materials:

– Vase

– Peeps

– Easter Grass

– Fake Flowers

– Round Placemat

Just place the peeps at the bottom of the vase.  I used the grass to hold the flowers up straight and to hide the stems.  Add your favorite colored flowers and placemat and waalaa!

Another Vase…

TABLE RUNNER

 Materials:

– Green Turf (you can get at your local home improvement store… have them cut it off the bolt.  Cost me $5ish for 1ft x 12ft)

– Decorations

You can really have fun with this.  I also used this green turf for Superbowl and St. Patricks. I also have 3 other pieces of this from the same strip!

BUNNY CHAIR COVERS

Ok….  I didn’t make this but just had to show you this!  Got this at the Dollar Tree.  These are chair covers for the backs of the chair for only a DOLLAR!  Super cute!

EASTER TREE

 Materials:

– Tree

– Pastel Lights

– Hanging Easter Decorations

Fun to have a Holiday Tree!  I decorate this tree for every holiday and its where we eat all of our meals.  Kids love to help decorate it with me.

WINDOWS

I think the Dollar Tree should pay me for all these advertisements I do for them.  lol 🙂

Again,  another Dollar Tree find.  This is I think a placemat.  It’s a felt egg cut out that I just used a suction cup to hang up.  They come in all different colors and even have butterflies.  I have them all!   Fun to see them from the street.
