Change In 2012

2012 Begins in our home with one little word  “Change”.

Each year I choose  one little word to keep myself , my goals, my family and whatever God calls me to do that year in focus.

This year I began with the word opportunity. Thinking it would be the year to discover the opportunities God has for us in our family, community and world. After about a day and further reading and prayer the word change just kept coming to my mind – Maybe I kept trying to put it aside as change can often mean loss, leaving, stepping out, or even doing something out of the ordinary .

I have finally resigned to the one little wordchange” and I am publicly stating it as our word for 2012.

To begin the journey of claiming the word “change” for 2012 I looked  up the definition in which I discovered several variations:

  1.      To cause to be different:
  2.      To lay aside, abandon, or leave for another; switch
  3.      To become different or undergo alteration
  4.      To go from one phase to another, as the moon or the seasons.
  5.      A transformation or transition from one state, condition, or phase to another

We don’t know yet what the word  “Change” will mean to us as we walk into a new year .  So, we will begin by preparing for what change may be ahead for our family.

Preparing our family for change means having things in order from our home to our finances. I feel as though it is only January and I have already overwhelmed my to do list with the many tasks needed to prepare my life for “change”.

Change can be small or big, it could mean a move, a new direction in careers, ministry or even Schools for my children.   Change can be about attitudes, how we think , the way we live our daily lives, or doing something out of the ordinary that scares me to death.

To me the word “change” is HUGE and I am slowly welcoming the word into my life but I also know that the change ahead may be exciting, scary , uncomfortable  and at times unknowing.  We do know that God is in charge of our family and the change he is preparing us for whether small or big will  be welcomed as we discover the journey God has for our family  in 2012.

I will continue to share with you the journey as our  family travels the year of “change”; preparing for what is ahead and discovering it.
