The sun has been shinning all week and I have discovered that Idaho and Eastern Washington are two places full of more adventure then one family can see in a week. Fortunately for our family our oldest daughter will be attending college this fall in Eastern Washington giving our family more opportunities to come back this way.
Today (day 3 )on our Twizzlers Landmark Summer roadtrip we headed out to grab a quick bite to eat at Jimmy Johns Gourmet Sandwich shop a first time visit for us and another yummy discovery- everyone seemed to enjoy their fresh deli sandwich. Then it was off to visit Old Mission State Park in Coeur d’ Alene
The home to the oldest standing building in Idaho state – The Mission of the Sacred Heart and a restored Parish House including a historic cemetery. We took a few minutes to view a very informative video telling us the history of The Mission of the Sacred Heart and the relationship between the Jesuit 
missionaries and the Coeur d’Alene Indians. My children were fascinated with the furnished rooms that gave us a visual of life back in the 1800’s and early 1900’s I have always been a big believer that children learn from real life experiences and taking our children to Landmarks across the country gives them the opportunity to learn our Countries history in a fun and hands on experience. So, the next time you head out for a road trip google history landmarks that you can easily visit with your families and take in a few history lessons along the way.
After our history lesson for the day we meet up with family friends who live on Lake Newman in Spokane and we spent the afternoon touring this wonderful and peaceful lake topping it off with a delicious BBQ dinner and back to our hotel for a good nights rest as there is still more adventure ahead for the Novotny’s.
