This holiday season, as many families will have to cut back on gifts and extras, children can be reminded to make Jesus their favorite present this Christmas with Tiny Baby Jesus by award-winning author Dandi Daley Mackall, illustrated by Julia Noonan. The rhyming picture book with moving illustrations celebrates the great contributions Jesus made throughout his life, starting with the Christmas miracle of his birth.

Tiny feet of Jesus, kicking up a storm.
Angels circling round his bed keep him safe and warm.
Now those feet are bigger, walking on the sea,
Leaving us his footstep, saying, “Come and follow me!”

While reading Tiny Baby Jesus together this Christmas season, children and families can celebrate the gift of Jesus from head to tiny toes. As they turn the pages, they will discover the wonder of hands that develop into those of a carpenter and swaddled shoulders that grow to carry the weight of all mankind. Readers can share in the humble birth of tiny baby Jesus while remembering the life and teachings of the grown savior.

For the past 100 years, our family has been committed to growing quality fruit for generations to enjoy. As one of the largest family owned and operated pear growers in the world, we take great pride in the quality pears we produce. Major wholesalers and retailers have relied on our fresh fruit for decades and we are proud to begin offering it fresh from our farm to you. When you buy a gift from our family, you can be assured that you are getting the very best that nature has to offer.
We care about the communities where we live and work and believe everyone should have access to fresh fruit, a vital part of a nutritious diet. That’s why we are doing our part to fight hunger with our Donate Fruit program that matches every gift you purchase, pound for pound, with a donation of fresh fruit to food banks that feed hungry families. Our 15” round placemats easily wash or wipe clean because they’re made of spun polypropylene plastic that’s woven for a natural appearance. But unlike natural weaves, they’re super durable, fade and mildew resistant.

These colorful rounds are great for worry-free table settings… and beyond. They’re especially great if you have toddlers, since they don’t hang over the edge of tables like table runners or tablecloths. One less thing for busy Moms to worry about.

Here are a few ways to add kid-friendly holiday color using these placemats:
Create a table runner by arranging 3-5 rounds in festive colors down the center of the dining table, and top with a festive centerpiece or collection of candles.
Use one on accent tables to add a colorful splash to holiday collections or candle arrangements
Use them underneath trivets to add spice to buffet tables – and to catch spills. Simply Smart Living

Cookies by Shar, Inc. based in Davie, is taking specialty cookies to a whole new sweet level. Reputed for her intricate and lavishly decorated creations topped with royal icing, owner Sharmila (Shar) Melwani was not only tapped to create a special cookie line sold at all Florida Whole Foods Market stores, but her custom-made delicacies have been requested for prestigious companies such as Ferragamo, BMW and Neiman Marcus for special events, in addition to the South Beach Food & Wine Festival.
A former financial advisor, Melwani started her small customized cookie business in 2004 when she was dissatisfied with cookies she ordered for her daughter’s birthday party. Today, Cookies by Shar is a regional, national and international sensation.
“I feel that just like art, food has to appeal to the senses,” said Melwani. “I’m very particular about the way something looks before I want to eat it – it adds a lot to the experience. With each cookie I create, I place a lot of importance on the ‘wow’ effect.”
All created in Melwani’s new bakery in Davie, the individually decorated cookies are available in more than 150 exclusive themes, ranging from holiday to princess to wedding/shower. Additional gourmet cookies are offered in varieties such as chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin, as well as the company’s signature chocolate chip cookie pops and brownies.
All Cookies by Shar are made with premium ingredients, and are attractively presented in food-grade cellophane bags (preserving freshness for up to three weeks) and tied with a bow.
“Cookies gave me a way to express my creativity after having my children,” said Melwani. “I also love seeing little children decorating cookies, because it gives them so much confidence in their creativity and abilities.”
With her sweet success, Melwani feels it’s important to give back to help others – she donates five percent of all Cookies by Shar proceeds to Share Our Strength, a national non-profit organization that aims to end childhood hunger, and its offspring campaign, The Great American Bake Sale. Cookies by Shar was the only cookie company selected to participate in the upscale 2008 and 2009 Taste of the Nation Miami event, benefiting Share Our Strength.
In addition to being sold at the new Cookies by Shar bakery, located at 6323 Stirling Road, Davie, 33314, and all Florida Whole Foods Market stores, the cookies are also available at
