Do you have little pirates in your home? I do, Caleb is our little pirate. He has been a huge fan of Pirates for many years enjoying dressing up like pirates , owning a zillion pirate type toys from Play Mobil to mega bloks. So, when I come across a fun Pirate story I enjoy reading it to him. A Pirate’s Quest not only has a fun story but a great lesson in it as well and the pictures are incredible and fun for kids to sit and imagine as they look at them.

Winner of 7 Major Awards!! Laura and Robert Sams have written a children’s book, inspired by the pirate’s Peg Leg Song from The Riddle in a Bottle movie. The book features beautiful oil paintings by wildlife artist Heiner Hertling. And yes, Robert is the model for the one-legged pirate.

A Pirate’s Quest (for his family heirloom peg leg) is the tale of a one-legged pirate and his quest to find a very special peg leg. The peg leg is a family heirloom, which was passed down from his grandpappy to his pappy to him. And he loses it on a tiny lake far from the sea. To find the leg, he must follow the moving water, from lakes to rivers and eventually out to the ocean. He braves stormy weather, searches mangrove forests and swims along coral reefs. “It’s funny and beautiful,” Laura said, “But it’s also a story about never giving up until you find what you’re looking for.”
