Back to school can be overwhelming!
Getting out of the lazy phase of summer can be hard as we get ourselves into gear for back to school.
I have five kids and every school year I thought getting organized would somehow just happen . But it didn’t. It only got crazier each year. So, I would search high and low for new ways to get this family organized as we began the Back to School process.
Check out these 6 school organization hacks you need this school year!
1. Storage for School Supplies

The kids are going to need school supplies for something during the school year. It makes it easier to get some school supplies now and organization it in a spot where the kids can find it. I like putting the school supplies in a clear storage container so the kids can easily see what they are looking for.
You can also label the drawers with the items inside to identify it. It’s perfect for the kids who are learning to read or will be!
2. Make a Drop Zone
Designating a drop off zone for the kids’ school items has helped keep the chaos at bay. Find a place in your home where they can store their coats, backpacks, and what else they use. You might have a mudroom or entry way. Use wall hooks to hang backpacks and coats. Shelves are good for storing gloves, hats or their shoes.

3. Keep a Family Calendar
With seven people in our family, there was always something going on. A family calendar helped me to create one place where I knew what was happening. I suggest making a family calendar and keeping it in a place in your home where everyone can see it. You can be creative and organized as you want with this, such as color coding. I assigned a number to each of my kids starting with the oldest and so on.

4. Personalized Items

The kids needed some sort of bag to carry to school often. Sometimes even several, such as a backpack, lunch bag, pencil bag, and more. I loved the idea of personalizing these items with their name on it, or letting them choose a bag of their own.
5. Label It All!

I used to spend a lot of time writing out my kid’s names on every school supplies they had with a sharpie. When I learned I could make labels with their names instead it became so much easier!
You can easily make labels right on your computer with address labels. You could also get personalized stickers online too.

6. Meal Planning

I have always been huge on meal planning. With a huge family and always having something on the calendar, it made my life a whole lot easier knowing what we were having for dinner. I felt so much less stressed than when I was not meal planning for my family. It also helps you save money too!
