One in five children in America go hungry because of lack of consistent access to healthy food. You can help change that, and the answer is as easy as going shopping. The Albertsons/Safeway is launching a national “Hunger Is” campaign (www.hungeris.org) for the month of September (1st through 30th) 2015 to aid in the fight again childhood hunger in America. This program raises awareness, volunteers hours, and funds improved healthiness for hungry children and their families.
To take part in the “Hunger Is” campaign all you have to do is shop at Albertsons/Safeway. Purchase any of the participating brands or products (including Con Agra – Marie Calender’s, Healthy Choice, Bertolli’s and PF Changs brands; Coke; Unilever; Kellogg’s; Campbell’s) and Albersons/Safeway will make a donation for you! I just went out and bought a Marie Calender’s Chicken Pot Pie from Albertsons, and it was such a good feeling knowing that my purchase wouldn’t just feed my family, but another hungry family as well. You can also donate to the campaign while checking out at your local store in one of these divisions: Eastern, Intermountain, Northern California, Southwest, Shaws/Star.
Remember: every designated item/product purchased supports “Hunger Is”, helping connect hungry kids in our neighborhoods to healthy food. Please note that the “Hunger Is” campaign will be lead by the Safeway Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF). They will help manage the local distribution of funds collected by store to their local food banks in the communities in which the Albertsons Safeway family of stores operates.
