National Safe Boating Week is May 17-23

National Safe Boating Week, held from May 17-23, 2014, is the official launch of the 2014 North American Safe Boating Campaign. This yearlong campaign promotes safe and responsible boating and the value of voluntary life jacket wear by recreational boaters through the national theme, Wear It!

Wear It! unites the efforts of a wide variety of boating safety advocates, including the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, Canadian Safe Boating Council and many members of the National Safe Boating Council. The campaign is produced under a grant from the Sports Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. Share your boating story at SafeBoatingCampaign.com.

  1. I have lost friends in boating accidents and my fiance works on a boat. Safety first. And it’s the law.

  2. I follow safe boating procedures because anyone can have an accident and I want to be prepared just in case.

  3. I follow them because I’m not a strong swimmer. I need to be as careful and safe on the water as possible.

  4. my husbands aunt has a cabin on the lake they use during the summer months and she uses lots of life jackets,so a new one would be nice for her

  5. I grew up on a lake and saw first hand how some people disregard safe boating rules. It resulted in some scary situations, so I know how important it is!
