My precious nine year old won’t stop saying, “YOLO SWAG!” and I want it to stop.
(FYI: YOLO = You Only Live Once)
Me: “Cal, go fold your laundry!”
Cal: “YOLO SWAG!”
Me: “Dinner time!”
Cal: “YOLO SWAG!”
Me: “Did you finish your homework?”
Cal: “YOLO SWAG!”
Do you want to know what happens when I give my little YOLO swag offspring a package of post-it notes?
He labels said awesomeness.
Not only Cal, but my “personal assistant” (let me live in delusion, okay?) resident smart-girl-Siri has some mad awesome YOLO swag too. I recently verbally commanded Siri to call the Finkster’s mobile. She replied, “I’m really sorry about this, but I can’t take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while.”
She’s a machine and she can’t take anymore requests right now? Does she have any idea what it’s like to be a human and a human in the middle of the bumpy grief process?!!?!?
I don’t want to tell you what I said after because it wasn’t particularly Christian-like. Moving right along…
If we are all going to finish our race, our life, the only life we get on this earth, we might need to up our YOLO swag and take a rest from the requests and reply, “I’m really sorry about this, but I can’t take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while.”
I’ve decided to take a little rest from requests. I’m not being lazy, I’m taking a little rest to power-up because I need it. I believe You Only Live Once and I want my life to count. Really count.
So if I take a little longer then normal to reply or don’t reply at all, I’m labeling my rest-from-requests as Cal labeled himself, “YOLO swag”. What it means is, “I’m really sorry about this, but I can’t take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while.”
What’s YOLO swag mean to you?
