And so he began, first producing small amounts in his basement for friends and family and then, as the word spread, he began making more and more candy for the local market. Frank and Athena married soon after and Sarris Candies was born in the basement of their Canonsburg home.
Working as a forklift operator by day and candy maker by night, he realized that one or the other- his candy enterprise or his career had to end. Thankfully for the thousands of “sweet-tooths” that enjoy Sarris chocolate, Frank Sarris quit his job and started stirring batches full time.
By 1963, Frank had outgrown his basement. So he built a small candy shop next door to his house. Five years later, the house was demolished to make room for an even bigger candy shop and he and Athena settled into an apartment above the shop.
Over the years, Frank never forgot the quaint soda fountains of his youth which sold ice cream and penny candy. In 1982, with the help of his son, he created his very own old-fashioned ice cream parlour complete with period-style, red and brass booths and shimmering crystal chandeliers. Each year, thousands of people come from miles around to sample sundaes and other cool treats made with Sarris’ homemade ice cream and toppings.
Many family members helped to build the business which has turned into a Canonsburg landmark. Today, the Sarris Chocolate Factory and Ice Cream Parlour fill an area the size of a football field with over 100 yards of chocolate, penny candy, ice cream and life-like plush toys.
To this day, Frank and Athena are still sweet on each other. One taste of Sarris Chocolates and you’ll fall in love, too!

Shower SpeX
http://www.showerspex.com/
A few years ago while on vacation my husband came out of the shower and said, “Someone should make a sleeve you slip over the shampoo bottle with a big S on it, I can’t see without my glasses and I keep washing my hair with conditioner!” My friend and I looked at each other and said, “That’s a great idea!”
At the time we were both busy realtors and didn’t have time to spend on a new project. We all know what happened to the housing market and soon we had plenty of time on our hands; it was time to re-invent ourselves and develop Shower SpeX.
We quickly found many people had the same problem; bottles in the shower all look the same and no matter how hard they tried they couldn’t distinguish one from another. All the Baby Boomers are lost without their readers!
Along with being a great visual aid, Shower SpeX come in a number of fun designs allowing each family member to easily recognize their products at a glance.
Shower SpeX can be found in boutiques throughout New England as well as Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. We are also in Hair Salons across the country.
Busy Body Book http://www.busybodybook.com/ Working as a business executive in the highly competitive world of New York City’s commercial printing industry seems like another lifetime ago. In addition to sales Joan was responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of the manufacture of marketing and promotional materials for a diverse group of well-known book and magazine publishing companies, ad agencies, corporations, non-profit and educational institutions. She worked hand in hand with marketers and graphic designers in the creation, development and delivery of their message to prospective consumers.
But her other full time position, as single mom to her son Jake has been my true labor of love. Each and every day she realized the unlimited joy, learning and growth that a child brings to the world. Her teenager inspires her daily with his innate sense of humor and his “old soul.”
Blending demanding yet rewarding personal and professional lives has been her work in progress. Having to juggle family activities and responsibilities with her professional life led to the concept of BusyBodyBook’s Weekly GRID and its debut in 2004. Her deep regard for people, time, business and organization influenced every phase of BusyBodyBook’s development .
Originally from New York City, she has lived in South Orange, NJ since 1990. In 2003, as founder of About Your Time LLC and with the “birth” of BusyBodyBook she was finally fortunate to have realized my goal of working closer to home while Jake navigates young adulthood.

Children’s Art Project
http://www.childrensart.org/
Our Mission – To convey to the public the compassionate, caring face of M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and to generate revenue to enhance patient services through the sale of products created with children’s art. Our Vision -The Children’s Art Project will make life better for cancer patients and their families through the marketing and sale of innovative products based on the artwork of pediatric cancer patients. Your support of the Children’s Art Project provides the means to send children on a camping adventure – a week to forget about cancer and a week to share experiences with friends – a week to do art – a week to laugh and enjoy the wonders of summer!
For more than 35 years, the Children’s Art Project at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center has made life better for children with cancer. Through worldwide sales of young cancer patients’ original artwork featured on seasonal note cards and gift items, the project has returned more than $26 million to programs that benefit ca

ncer patients and their families. Each year, the project offers Holiday, Everyday and Valentine collections of note cards and gift items.Last year, card and gift sales funded $1.25 million in programs benefiting M. D. Anderson patients. While the Children’s Art Project’s highest priority is giving children with cancer opportunities to live a more normal childhood and prepare successfully for adulthood, the project also provides programs accessible to the more than 70,000 patients of all ages served each year at M. D. Anderson.
Through the years, this network of support and friendship is very much a part of the culture at the Children’s Art Project. Friendships made sustain our children through difficult treatments, little triumphs — and sometimes through heartbreak. When you purchase cards and gifts from CAP you are helping us fund many patient-focused programs at M. D. Anderson.

We recently features the fun and beautiful “Groovy Hearts” plate which was produced by Fitz and Floyd and designed by a cancer pediatric patient from Baytown, TX named Hunter when he was age 8. The 10″ plate is food/dishwasher/microwave safe and sells for $28. A must have.
Zutano

How does a new baby change the lives of two successful artists living in New York City? For designer & art director Uli and professional photographer Michael Belenky, the birth of their first child fostered a wholly new sense of artistic purpose and creative desire. Suddenly aware of the meager offerings in the children’s clothing market in 1989, Michael and Uli came to a well-researched conclusion: even in the Big Apple, choices of style, fit, originality and color when dressing their new baby Sofia left much to be desired. Surely there was more to being a baby than pink and blue…
And so it was with desire and determination that Uli set out on her own sewing machine, amid fabric swatches and color chips in the couple’s New York City apartment, hand- stitching prototypes for the very first Zutano clothing line. One small production run later, Zutano was officially in the market. Colorful and comfortable basics – jackets, leggings, overalls and hats – became the first styles of Zutano’s now classic Baby Basics. In a rainbow of just 6 colors, the styles became an instant favorite in many New York City boutiques: Orders were hand-delivered by Michael himself from the seat of a bicycle.

It didn’t take long before the creative team outgrew their New York City space and began searching for a location to lay permanent roots. For Uli and Michael, now with their second little girl Ella, the calm, quiet countryside beckoned; where a family, and a company, could grow strong and healthy on green hills & fresh air. In 1991, the Belenky’s packed up Zutano and headed up North to an old farmhouse in Cabot, Vermont.
Colorful new stripes, polka dots, and playful patterns were introduced to the Zutano program from this rural new location. With room to spread out – and serious customer demand – Zutano increased production, expanded its product line and turned full attention to its principle goal: to stand out in the children’s marketplace with clothes that are supremely comfortable, utterly fashionable and uniquely fun. After all, babies deserve to be stylish too.
Comfort and originality; sweetness with sophistication; classic structure with a modern flare. Zutano’s Baby Basics collection has matured beautifully since those first 4 styles and 6 colors were chosen. Produced today in the absolute softest 100% cotton, in over 90 solids, dots, patterns, ginghams and stripes, Zutano is, as it always has been: designed to be mixed and matched. Grand introductions and gentle retirements keep the line consistently fresh and invigorating while offering countless opportunities for coordination. Constantly tailoring and streamlining the essentials: jumper, t-shirt, dress, diaper cover, footie & body suit styles have since grown the Basics line to 15 individual styles. Coordinating accessories like reversible blankets, booties, and even a striking plush bunny named Hip Hoppy (dressed in Zutano’s finest miniature outfits) can now be combined to create the most lusciously colorful and truly unique layette set – custom matched to reflect the individuality of any baby.
Zutano’s seasonal collection, changing faces every Spring and Fall. Running in sizes from 12m to 4T, Zutano’s Collectibles are specially designed with an active toddler in mind. A compliment the Baby Basic’s line, Collectibles feature unconventional and exclusive prints and in playful body styles. In the nearly 15 years since that first handful of Baby Basics rolled into a few Manhattan boutiques, Zutano has maintained a purity of image and conceptual consistency that ranks among the highest in the children’s clothing industry. The brightest colors, the most sumptuous, high-quality fabrics, patterns and prints that embody the whimsical, and a tireless love for everything BABY: Combined, these elements have allowed Zutano to create some of the most diverse and outstanding children’s product on the market.
New babies really do change lives, and from day one Zutano has been committed to giving every new baby the opportunity to express themselves: colorfully, comfortably, and with an individuality all their own.
Zutano, clothes unique as your baby.
