After more than thirty years of working with and teaching about numbers, Dr. Rebecca Klemm, The Numbers Lady, founded NumbersAlive! as an innovative framework for demystifying numbers and math. Students of all ages join the inquisitive numeric characters – plush toys, puppets, and animated characters – as they explore the relevance of mathematical concepts worldwide.
No one is too young to start learning about the universality of numbers and math – and that their relevance should be engaging, interesting, and downright fun! Putting numbers into a real world contexts and looking at them through the lenses of art, history, science and culture propels math out of academic abstraction and into a vital part of everyday life. NumbersAlive! includes award-winning educational learning products (toys, books, and more), and out-of-school activities and programming. We use the arts and real-world adventures to encourage children to observe and speak about numbers in their own environments. This establishes a solid knowledge foundation for STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) academic subjects. Team Ten, led by Zero the Hero, accompanies The Numbers Lady and children on innovative, interpersonal, and interactive global education quests. They discover numerical applications and develop concepts of the scientific method. The learning adventure begins now!
Hi 5! Fabric Baby Numbers Book -Foundational Stem Book for Tiny Hands – This book helps young children make friends with numbers 1-5 using their hands. The inviting embroidery, crinkle fabric, and small numbers who peek out of the pages charm young children, ensuring that they grow up loving numbers.
Team Ten Makes a Fruit Basket! – This board book introduces young children to number knowledge in a fun way. It begins with Zero, who has no fruit and must imagine a fruit basket. Each number adds one fruit to the basket.
Roll, Count, Move! – This kinesthetic learning tool alleviates cabin-fever and encourages exercise while fostering numeracy through collaborative play. Instructions provide one way to play, but kids can engage their creativity by inventing their own games.
Puzzling Polygons – The Numbers Lady Challenge Adult Level for Geeks – Test your spatial abilities via Puzzling Polygons! The 4 puzzles consist of 6 pieces of 4 non-equilateral (not standard) shapes: hexagons, pentagons , quadrilaterals and triangles
Small Plush Numbers in Backpack – Team Ten, the award-winning colorful and friendly plush number characters 0-9, make numbers into fun and relevant “Friends You Can Count On.” Children love hugging their number friends and telling stories about how they find numbers in everyday life! The small plush numbers are 4.5” tall and connected with magnets.
Pi Refraction G – Put on the refraction glasses, look at light (small holiday lights are especially fun) and WOW! Pi is upside down and rightside up. Tilt and see how Pi moves. Everyone should have these glasses to wear on Pi Day!
