Alpha-Mania Adventures is a play-based storybook series that teaches phonological awareness and phonics.
These phonological skills are crucial to pre and emergent readers (3 to 8 years old) to learn to read properly. In fact, research shows that children with strong phonological awareness learn to read quicker and more easily.

What is Phonological Awareness?
Phonological awareness refers to the ability to hear and manipulate sounds within spoken words. The understanding that words are made up of sounds allows children to break words apart and put them back together in order to read and spell.
What is Phonics?
Phonics is the understanding that letter symbols represent sounds. For example, the letter T makes the sound /t/ like in the word treasure.

The storybooks were written by certified teachers at Ruth Rumack’s Learning Space, an academic support center that has been teaching early literacy for 20 years. The company is known for teaching foundational learning skills using methods not commonly found in the school system including kinesthetic and multi-sensory learning, and Direct Instruction.
