In our home we move from one sport to the next baseball, football, basketball, cheer leading along with camping, wake boarding, hiking, bike riding, skateboarding, snowboarding and our latest addition this coming winter will be snow skiing – with all these activities there is no doubt a few scrapes and wounds will be included it is just part of the package deal.
What I did not know when I entered the mom world was the risk and possibility of my children contracting MRSA in their everyday activities from those scrapes and wounds – Did you know that Children are more likely to have scrapes or wounds that can be potential entryways for infection, and often visit places, like day care centers, playgrounds, locker rooms, classrooms, gymnasiums and sports facilities, where people come in close contact with each other and shared equipment may not be frequently cleaned. Thus are at a higher risk for MRSA.
When our oldest was rushed via ambulance with a life threatening cut to his throat I had no idea what I could and needed to do to help prevent MRSA – If you are anything like me it quickly became a concern realizing the dangers and risks involved.
Allow me to share with you a list from SAFESKIN* Kids Antibacterial Gel that simplifies what we as moms need to know to prevent MRSA in our children and teens.
