My 30 Minute Workout – Who has time?

Who has time? to work out that is.  I can write it at the top of my to do list each day but it seldom gets crossed off by the time I lay my head on the pillow.  My goal is to work out, my intentions are good but lets face it being a busy mom of 5 kids can often mean putting my kids needs, to do’s and activities ahead of what I want to do or even need to do.  Sometimes I get a quick work out in when I take Caleb (#4) to the YMCA for his swimming lessons , or a walk around the neighborhood when the sun is out and the kids are willing to go for a walk the dog adventure.  But most days those two words Working Out just sit on my to do list waiting to be moved to the next days to do list. How can I begin to cross it off my list? Do I need to be more disciplined?  do I need to get up earlier? stay up later? give up making dinner or making the beds in my house? No I just need a plan that works for me.  So here is what I have discovered:

1.  I need a workout that does not take  90 minutes or even an hour.

2. I need to have consistency- a schedule – a routine

3. I need to remind myself  that I’m not getting any younger and my kids need a healthy mom

4. I need to NOT kick my self over and over when my plan fails…I need to get a new plan.

Here I go Getting Real with a new work out plan and thought maybe it might interest you as well:

Yes, it’s summer and my kids schedules are a bit less hectic so I’m thinking this is a perfect time to get into a regular workout routine.

Step #1  Buy it -  I bought a new DVD the 30 Day shred by Jillian Michaels  – it takes only 30 minutes and I can do it at home no more scheduling time to get to the YMCA or waiting for the sun to appear so I can go for a walk.  I am ready to work out no matter what time of day it is.

Step #2  Try it - I tried it out the other night and WOW – there are muscles aching I never knew I had – Yes I love to ache after a good work out it assures me I’m working out.

Step #3  Make it Happen -I have Decided that mornings are the best time to work out  before we get our day going – some days it may mean a 7am workout other days maybe a 9am workout it will depend on what we have going each day.

No this is NOT a sales pitch for the 30 Day Shred  – I bought mine off Amazon but knew I needed to share it with you moms as possibly you are wanting to Get Real with a new work out plan.

  1. I just finished Body Revolution by JM and it’s the same 30 minutes, but there are 15 different workouts. It’s GREAT!!! Try that after 30 day shred. :-)
