Remember the Resurrection.

By Steph Fink

Jesus’ resurrection still amazes me.  As I read through the resurrection story found in the twenty fourth chapter of Luke, what amazes me most is the doubt and unbelief of those that were closest to Jesus.  I mean they saw Jesus heal the sick, feed the poor, turn water into wine.  They knew He was God.

But after Jesus died on the cross those closest to Jesus, forgot.  Despite their disbelief, Jesus never gave up on them.

The women that went to tend to Jesus’ dead body were puzzled.  They couldn’t find Jesus in the tomb.   They forgot what Jesus told them but, Jesus never gave up on them.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them and cleared the confusion, “He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was with you in Galilee: The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’”

After the angel spoke, they remembered Jesus’ words.

Then these women then went to tell the remaining apostles, but the apostles didn’t believe the women because it seemed, well, crazy.  They forgot what Jesus told them and yet, Jesus never gave up on them.

So Jesus appeared and asked, “Why are you troubled, and who do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet.  It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”  It’s true that Jesus never gave up on them.

Jesus showed His scars which confirmed He was who He said He was.  Then Jesus said, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

After all they’d been through together, Jesus didn’t give up on them because He loved them and He loves you too!

I hope you have a very special Easter and that you never forget just how much Jesus loves you!

We women sometimes wonder about our value. Even women in high powered corporate positions question their significance on some days. On that first “Easter Sunday” the Significant Women in Jesus’s life were on their way at dawn to minister to him (his body) after his death on a cross.

They had no idea that they would be the first people to know and hear the astonishingly good news that He was not in the tomb! That his body had not been stolen
but that He had Risen and was alive as had been predicted. They were filled with joy and wonder and left the tomb to tell others this wonderful news!
Along the way they came face to face with Jesus! May you come face to face with Jesus today. Have a Joyful Easter !

  2. Happy Easter to you!
