Lady or not…here I come.

By: Steph Fink

“Hey, that’s not a lady…that’s my Mom!” declared a boy that I once claimed to be my son in response to the store cashier calling me “Lady”.

Of interest, this comment came from the very same child that later that day thanked me for the “Mexican food” as he performed Ninja moves with his chopsticks with a, “Waahhhhhhh….” added in for creative expression.

“It’s Chinese food, honey…not Mexican.”

Sometimes we all jumble things up.

Like when you tell your kids to go hide and “forget” to seek.  Ahem…

I can certainly relate.  I’ve jumbled up thinking that I’m invisible because I’m a mother.  I’ve jumbled up believing that I am only the mistakes that I’ve made.  I’ve jumbled up that God doesn’t love me when I’ve had a bad day.

The truth of the matter is God loves me because I’m His.

The truth of the matter is that God has plans for my life.

Before I jump into New Year goals and resolutions, I don’t want to jumble more stuff up.

I’ve made goals and resolutions before and then used those same goals as excuses to hide from God and people.

The turning point in playing Hide and Go Seek is the moment when you’ve found the person you’re looking for.   It’s an exhilarating roller coaster of feeling fear and joy.

There’s a reason I no longer want to be hidden; it’s found in Jeremiah 29: 11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, ‘Plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Ladies, God has big plans for you and your future.  As you consider 2012, look for God.  God, unlike a certain mother I know who has been known to tell her children to go hide and “forgot” to seek, will be found.

Jeremiah 29:13 comforts me that, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

God’s never been hiding.  Sometimes I just wasn’t seeking.  So to 2012 I seek and say, “Lady or not…here I come!”

What’s one hope, vision, dream or goal you have for 2012?

What a great goal for 2012, to seek HIM with all your heart. Here is to a less jumbled up 2012! Thanks for the post, I love Steph’s writing!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! My pastor just began a new series of messages today on Jeremiah 29:11, too! We’re emphasizing the hope & the future of a new year to minister to others, especially to be a “bright light”. I love how God uses different avenues to speak to our hearts these messages … today it was a worship service and then an email!
